Nomvelo Makhanya Dragged For Leaving Scandal

Former actress of the South African Soapie Scandal, Nomvelo Makhanya says she was just tired of people dragging her for leaving the show.

She went live on Instagram to make some things clear.

She said it wasn’t her call to leave the show as she was written off. Even though leaving the show wasn’t her decision, she’s happy she left the environment as she says it was very toxic to her.

Daily Sun released the following statement from The TV Show Scandal “To our knowledge, as a production we’ve had a great run of 10 years with the actor, Nomvelo Makhanya, and we appreciate the work she put in on her character as Lindiwe,” Scandal! Production – Ochre Media stated.

They also said the exit of the character was purely dictated by the story. They said the character had run its course on the show and therefore as the producers and writing team of the show, they ended the character’s journey to allow them opportunities to explore other avenues as storytellers.

“Ending characters is always bitter-sweet for us as production especially with an actor like Nomvelo Makhanya because she grew up in the show but it also gives us an opportunity for new stories for the future and new opportunities for remaining cast members,” it concluded.

Nomvelo was unavailable to answer further questions.

Some people have applauded Nomvelo for sharing her honest opinion, but some fans also feel that she could have shot herself in the foot because this could affect her getting more work in the industry as most of these producers know each other. Lerato Kganyago also got dragged when she decided to comment on a TikTok video of Nomvelo’s live. She commented saying “Brave young woman, unfortunately we  work in an industry where speaking against things that hurt you is frowned upon. Don’t fear you’re going to be okay.” To which another TikTok user responded to Lerato’s comment by saying “You hate gossipers but you watch this page? What is the difference? Celebrities like to act like they don’t like juice.”

Even though we are still unsure what exactly transpired during her time at Scandal, Nomvelo did speak to Times Live in April 2017 about her war with bipolar, anxiety and depression. So it’s safe to say that all that glitters isn’t really gold. Our favourite stars go through the most and face battles they don’t disclose to their adoring fans. So when you get a chance to, please show them nothing but love, for they too are human.

What are your thoughts on Nomvelo speaking on a public platform about the toxicity of her former working environment? And do you feel that celebrities like gossip as much as we do or do they just not have tany time for it? Tell us what you think, we love hearing from you.
